Spiritual Insights from an Exterminator

How Far From The Structure

(Excerpt from PCT magazine February 2011 edition )

Article written by Dr. Michael Potter

The question often arises at what distance from the structure a treatment might be necessary. While there is no industry “regulation” on such occurrences , the NPMA (National Pest Management Association)  is of the opinion that termites found in areas outside of the structure should be mentioned in the comment section of the inspection report, but should not be reported as active within or infesting a structure.  (NPMA 1999)

There is no minimum distance from the foundation that if termites were discovered, treatment would be required by industry standards or practices.

In other words, if their not found in or on the structure, it’s not required by state law nor NPMA standards to treat a structure for termites.

So says the scroll!
